Summary

This report presents a four-section summary of Saint Lucia’s national review on the status of implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (BPfA) during the period 2015 to 2020. The first section highlights the priorities, achievements, challenges and setbacks experienced by Saint Lucia. Section two focuses on the twelve critical areas of concern which are discussed under six clusters, representing the overarching dimensions that highlight the alignment of the BPfA with the Sustainable Development Agenda of 2030. Section three focuses on national institutions and processes and the fourth section speaks to gender data. The process for the preparation of the report, the data presented, and the level of analysis underscore the challenges Saint Lucia experiences in the implementation of the BPfA. Notwithstanding these challenges, the report identifies promising strides being undertaken to strengthen the normative framework to support gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls and identifies priorities for the period 2020 to 2025.
