Summary

Saint Lucia was one of the nine Caribbean countries which benefited from the project, Enabling Gender-Responsive Disaster Recovery, Climate, and Environmental Resilience (EnGenDER). In 2020 EnGenDER launched its Offer of Complementary Funding (OCF) which aimed at addressing financing gaps and promoting sustainable climate financing with a focus on gender-responsive action. Saint Lucia competed for the OCF and its proposal was successful. The proposal was to conduct institutional analyses and gender assessments in the Health Sector as well as four other sectors (Infrastructure and Spatial Planning, Education, Tourism and Resilient Ecosystems) prioritized in Saint Lucia’s National Adaptation Plan (2018 – 2028) and the Energy Sector, which is a focus in Saint Lucia’s reviews of its Nationally Determined Contributions. This assessment explores the gender-climate change nexus in the health sector as it relates to policy.
